Register to play Risky Football!!

The official rules for Risky Football follow:

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Risky Football begins September 3 and ends with the final game of the regular season of the National Football League (NFL) on January 1.  Registration and the submissions of risks are accepted throughout the four months of the game.
  • The contest is free!  However, you are required to be a registered guest of S&P to play and win prizes.
  • You, an S&P registrant, who choose to play begin the contest with seven (7) points.  You may choose any week to enter the game, but if you are eliminated from the game, you may not re-enter during the 2011 NFL season.
  • You may use your points on as many NFL games during a particular week as desired.  Or you may choose to sit the week out and not make a risk at all.  Be sure to indicate which week your risks pertain to using the drop down list.
  • You may risk one or more of your acquired points on each team that you predict will win that week.
  • Your may submit your risk(s) at any time prior to the beginning of the game for which the risks pertain.
  • Each time a predicted team wins its game, you add the number of points you risked for that game to your season total.  But, each time a predicted team loses, you subtract the number of points you risked for that game from your seasonal total.
  • Once you risk any of your points on any particular team to win, you are prohibited from risking any of your points on that team for the remainder of the season.
  • If a game ends in a tie, no points are credited or debited from your seasonal point total.
  • If, at the conclusion of any game for which you have submitted a risk, your seasonal point total drops to zero, you are eliminated from the contest.

Example:

Let's say that you choose San Francisco to win for your first week in the contest.  You can risk from one to seven of your initial seven points on San Francisco.  Let's further assume that you risk six of your seven points.  If San Francisco wins, you earn six points and will have thirteen points for your second week of the contest.  But, if San Francisco loses, you will have but one point for your second week.  In either case, you cannot choose San Francisco again to win for the remainder of the contest.  Remember that you can only risk up to the number of points you have acquired over the course of the contest.  And also remember that if at any time you reach zero points, you are eliminated from the contest.

REGULATIONS

  • The prize purse will be distributed in values corresponding to the following percentages:  first place, 50%; second place, 20%; third place 15%; fourth place, 10%, fifth place, 5%.
  • The player with the highest number of acquired points wins the contest and receives the first-place share of the prize package.  Second, third, fourth, and fifth place players are determined and awarded in order of descending acquired points.  Players who tie for any rank within the award rankings will receive equal prize packages worth the average of the prizes that would be received by those players had there been no tie.  The players immediately below those who tie will win the prize awarded for the place representing their performance had there been no tie.  For instance, if two players tie for second, the tied players will each receive prize packages worth 17.5% of the total prize package; the next player below the second-place tie will receive the fourth-place prize of 10%.  Players tied for fifth place will equally divide the fifth-place prize.
